Lockheed A-29 “Hudson Mark III” Royal Air Force Coastal Command Spring 1941
A modified version of the Lockheed L-14 Super Electra commercial airliner, the Hudson was built initially for the Royal Air Force shortly before the outbreak of the WWII. It was used throughout the war by many Allied air forces in a variety of primarily maritime reconnaissance and attack roles, in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. The Mark III appeared in the fall of 1940, with a heavier defensive armament and upgraded Wright R-1820-G205A radial engines, providing 1,050hp at 7,500 ft, and giving the Hudson a maximum speed of 406 km/h and range of 2180 km.
